Szechuan Express | Chinese is a chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is listed at 125 Oakland Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213, which places it among the local businesses of Pittsburgh that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Pittsburgh; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Pennsylvania are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 amβ2:30 pm. It is closed on Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (412) 687-8000. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, szechuanexpresspgh.com.

Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Pittsburgh follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Came here after watching their Instagram reels. Didn't disappoint. Pretty good food, super fast serving (served 6 minutes after order), and very affordable (8% tip as an option is unbelievable). Staff also quite friendly.

I visited Pittsburg last weekend and ate at two Chinese restaurants in the city. This restaurant definitely blows the other one out of the water. The dishes are very tasty, and each has its own unique senses (lo mein shrimp, happy family, and shrimp fried rice). The portions are huge and the price is definitely well suited for college studentsβ wallets.

I ordered terayaki chicken with rice and I wasnβt informed that there was vegetables which were okay but I wish i had an option to not include them. I went around 7-8 PM hoping for a shorter wait and ended up waiting around 30 mins. When i finally asked if my order was ready yet they were like βuhhh oh here it isβ and got it from the back. I wish they just gave me it when it was ready because i was at the pickup counter the entire time

I found Szechuan Express on Instagram while watching some of their videos which interested me in trying out their Chinese food. Their prices are reasonable. We ordered takeout. Parking can be difficult. It took about 20 mins to make the food and they were busy. They accept credit cards. In the picture we have Taiwan mei fun with chicken, pork fried rice, chicken with broccoli, kung pao chicken, and sesame seed chicken. All of their dishes that I purchased contained MSG and they cannot substitute for it. All of their dishes are generous portions. Taiwan chicken Mei fun had a bland taste. Pork fried rice: the pork fried rice contains breaded pork pieces unlike any other pork fried rice Iβve had from other Chinese restaurants. Way more flavor than the fried rice I tried not in this picture. Chicken with broccoli. This dish was bland and the brown sauce needs more flavor. There is garlic in this dish. Kun pao chicken: tasted similar to other Chinese restaurants. Sesame seed chicken: This by far was my favorite dish. They use white meat chicken. The sauce had a sweet taste to it very similar to my former favorite Chinese restaurant which unfortunately closed. Out of all the dishe

Head chef is a great guy. Super friendly and made my dumpling his special way. I also got the dry chilli fried rice which had an amazing blend of flavors. Both meals were delicious and very large. 10/10 and I will be coming back.
